| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Actor and comedian Daryl Paul Hury, a man who |

| 6 | 6 | | brought laughter and joy into the lives of many people, passed away |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | far too soon on April 26, 2009, at the age of 35; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Alice and Charles Hury, Daryl Hury |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | demonstrated his acting abilities while attending Edinburg High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School, competing successfully in numerous University |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Interscholastic League, Texas Forensic Association, and National |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Forensic League events; after his graduation, he went on to earn a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fine arts degree from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | University; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A versatile artist, Mr. Hury worked in the media of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | theater, film, and comedy; he appeared in stage productions in a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | number of U.S. and international cities, including Boston, Los |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Angeles, Moscow, and Sofia, Bulgaria, and he also had the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | opportunity to complete further studies in the craft of acting |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | during his time in Europe; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This accomplished performer was a member of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Screen Actors Guild and showcased his talent in several independent |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | films, including Harold Buttleman, Independent Stuntman, and he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | also appeared in the made-for-TV movie A Thief of Time; he was a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | member of the Film Pigs ensemble and helped found Live! Live! News! |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | News!, a sketch comedy troupe based in southern California; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | moreover, he played the main room of the venerable Comedy Store in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Los Angeles and toured nationally with his one-man show, 2001 |

| 29 | 29 | | Reasons to Live; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Daryl Hury led a life that many desire, yet few can |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | bring to fruition; with wit, skill, and imagination, he entertained |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | audiences across the nation and in distant lands, and those who knew |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | him best will never forget this bright spark who touched their lives |

| 34 | 34 | | in innumerable ways; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daryl Paul Hury and |

| 37 | 37 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |

| 38 | 38 | | parents, Alice and Charles Hury; to his siblings, Phillip Hury and |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | his wife, Evelyn, and Christopher Hury; to his nephew, Wyatt Hury; |

| 40 | 40 | | to his cousins, Jordan Johnson and CyLynn Douglas Braswell; and to |

| 41 | 41 | | his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
