| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ana Jimenez is marking her 20th year as a teacher in |

| 6 | 6 | | 2009, and this notable milestone provides a fitting opportunity to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | honor her for her outstanding service as an educator; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Jimenez attended Stephen F. Austin Elementary, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | South Junior High, and Edinburg High School before earning a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | bachelor's degree from The University of Texas--Pan American; she |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | is the youngest of 12 children and the first member of her family to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | graduate from college; moreover, she has three children of her own, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Joana, Iliana, and Salvador; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1989, she began her teaching career at Ollie |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | O'Grady Elementary School in Mission, where she taught at every |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | level between prekindergarten and the fourth grade and served as a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | coach for University Interscholastic League spelling events; she |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | moved to Edinburg after 12 years at O'Grady and taught briefly at |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Canterbury and De Zavala Elementary Schools, delighting young |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | learners with her enthusiasm for reading; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Jimenez now works at Cano-Gonzalez Elementary, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | where she taught at the third-grade level for four years; her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | classes consistently achieved exceptional scores on the Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Assessment of Knowledge and Skills exam; for the past year, she has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | served as the school's instructional/lead teacher and testing |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | facilitator, and she also coordinates UIL meets for the campus; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The education of Texas children is of vital |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | importance to the future of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | pleasure to honor Ana Jimenez for giving countless students a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | strong foundation on which to build; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Ana Jimenez for her achievements as an |

| 33 | 33 | | educator and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
