No. 2678 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Since 2003, Chuck Cazalas has ably served the residents of Nueces County as Precinct 4 county commissioner, and his knowledge and dedication have earned him widespread respect and appreciation; and WHEREAS, During his tenure, Commissioner Cazalas has successfully worked to lower taxes, implement tax exemptions for senior citizens and the disabled, and lower workers' compensation fund premiums; his public service also includes terms on the State Pension Board of Trustees, the State Policy Committee for the Conference of Urban Counties, and the State Community Development Review Committee, which he chairs; and WHEREAS, Commissioner Cazalas is a retired manager of government and political affairs for CITGO Refining and Chemicals; dedicated to giving back, he has chaired the board of directors of the American Diabetes Association and been a member of the boards of the Salvation Army, Food Bank of Corpus Christi, American Heart Association, and March of Dimes WalkAmerica; and WHEREAS, This notable Texan has received a number of accolades for his outstanding work and support of worthwhile endeavors; in addition to the Colin Powell America's Promise Connection Award and the Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Corpus Christi, he has earned the Coastal Stewardship Award from the Texas General Land Office and the Walter B. Jones Memorial Award for Excellence in Local Government from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; and WHEREAS, Each day, public servants work to improve the quality of life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts of Commissioner Cazalas are helping to make Nueces County a better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Chuck Cazalas for his service as Nueces County Commissioner and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Commissioner Cazalas as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
