5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of James E. |

6 | 6 | | Weatherford of Waxahachie, who passed away on March 18, 2009, at the |

7 | 7 | | age of 83; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Ellis County on September 2, 1925, to C. S. |
---|
9 | 9 | | and Kate Weatherford, James Weatherford attended schools in Ovilla, |
---|
10 | 10 | | Red Oak, and Waxahachie; he went on to study at North Texas State |
---|
11 | 11 | | University before answering his nation's call to duty with four |
---|
12 | 12 | | years of service in the U.S. Air Force, including a year spent |
---|
13 | 13 | | overseas; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Weatherford worked for International Harvester |
---|
15 | 15 | | and J. C. Penney after concluding his military duty; he ultimately |
---|
16 | 16 | | began a career at Sears that spanned 30 years, during which time he |
---|
17 | 17 | | managed stores in Waxahachie and Richardson; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Formerly married to Janie Hazelip and Carolyn |
---|
19 | 19 | | Parker, both of whom preceded him in death, Mr. Weatherford |
---|
20 | 20 | | remarried in 1995 and enjoyed a rewarding relationship with his |
---|
21 | 21 | | wife, Betty; he was the devoted father of two children, and his |
---|
22 | 22 | | family grew to include two stepchildren and four grandchildren; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, James Weatherford was a member of Farley Street |
---|
24 | 24 | | Baptist Church for four decades, and he took great enjoyment in his |
---|
25 | 25 | | hobbies of golf, bridge, and other card games; known for his playful |
---|
26 | 26 | | sense of humor, he brought joy to his family and friends throughout |
---|
27 | 27 | | his life, and they will long treasure their memories of time spent |
---|
28 | 28 | | in his company; now, therefore, be it |
---|
29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James E. Weatherford |
---|
31 | 31 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
32 | 32 | | wife, Betty Weatherford; to his children, Paul Weatherford and his |
---|
33 | 33 | | wife, Gwen, and Laura Bearden; to his stepchildren, Tina Dennison |

34 | 34 | | and Paul Nelson and his wife, Melinda; to his grandchildren and |
