 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 death of Laura Ellen McMahan of Waxahachie on April 2, 2009, at the
 age of 93; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of N. J. and Virginia Dunaway, the
 former Laura Dunaway was born in Belcherville on June 20, 1915; she
 married Harvey McMahan in 1937 and they became the parents of three
 treasured children; the couple shared a fulfilling 43-year
 relationship until his passing; and
 WHEREAS, The McMahan family moved to Waxahachie in 1959, and
 Mrs. McMahan became a valued member of First United Methodist
 Church, where she worshipped for 48 years and gave of her time and
 talents to the United Methodist Women, the Joy Singers, and the
 Fidelis Sunday school class; in 2007, she moved to Lewisville to
 live with one of her sons; and
 WHEREAS, Thoughtful and compassionate, Mrs. McMahan served
 communion at nursing homes and volunteered at Renfro Healthcare and
 Pleasant Manor; she enjoyed spending time with her many dear
 friends and with her family members, especially her beloved
 grandchildren; in addition, she was an avid reader and followed
 baseball closely, going over the sports page twice each day to
 ensure no detail escaped her notice; and
 WHEREAS, Laura McMahan will be deeply missed, but those who
 were privileged to share in her love and affection will forever
 treasure their memories of time spent in her company; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Laura McMahan and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons,
 Harvey B. McMahan III and Charles McMahan and his wife, Connie; to
 her daughter, Sue Hayes, and her husband, Bob; to her 10
 grandchildren; to her 13 great-grandchildren; to her 2
 great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and host of
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Laura
 McMahan.
