| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Waxahachie High School choir |

| 6 | 6 | | earned superior ratings for their musical performances and are |

| 7 | 7 | | advancing to the University Interscholastic League State |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Solo/Ensemble Contest in Austin on May 30, 2009; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, With the skilled leadership of choir director Gail |

| 10 | 10 | | Stutts-Harrell, the Waxahachie choral program is a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | performance-based elective that encourages the development of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | vocal skills in solo and ensemble singing, overall musicianship, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and increased appreciation for all fine arts among its |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | participants; guided by the motto "One Heart, One Mind, One Voice," |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the students also learn the importance of personal responsibility |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and accountability for one's actions as members of a group; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Based on their Class One ensemble performances and |

| 18 | 18 | | vocal and piano solos at the regional competition in San Antonio, 17 |

| 19 | 19 | | members of the Waxahachie choir have qualified to proceed to the |

| 20 | 20 | | state competition; those students are: Meagan Speed, Catherine |

| 21 | 21 | | Sullivan, Molly Prescott, Camille Spooner, Megan Neihart, Kara |

| 22 | 22 | | Smith, Libby Power, Nadia Murray, Donald Kirschner, Trevor Smith, |

| 23 | 23 | | Blaine Corbett, Zachary Hatchel, Justin Mallios, Warren Turner, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Jessica Woodcock, Rachel Terry, and Lizzie Hain; and |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, These fine young Texans have demonstrated a |

| 26 | 26 | | commitment to excellence and perseverance in the pursuit of their |

| 27 | 27 | | goals, and their efforts indeed merit special recognition; now, |
