| 7 | 7 | | Grand Champion for the 2008-2009 school year; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Future Problem Solving Program International |

| 9 | 9 | | encourages creativity and critical thinking through competitions |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in which students propose solutions to various social problems; |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | more than 250,000 students from the United States, Canada, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Russia |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | compete in the program every year; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Topics for each competition are researched in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | advance, and the winning team from Midlothian prepared for this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | year's state event by developing Project P.L.A.Y., or Playgrounds |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Linking a Community of Young People; the group raised more than |

| 18 | 18 | | $22,000 to modify Hawkins Spring Park Playground in an effort to |

| 19 | 19 | | make it accessible to children of all abilities; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The victory at the state event qualifies the team to |

| 21 | 21 | | compete at the international competition in Lansing, Michigan, in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | May; ably directed by coach Christina McDaniel, members include |

| 23 | 23 | | Logan Coomes, Kyle Flaherty, Jake Goh, Brian Hammer, Stephanie |

| 24 | 24 | | Hampton, Isiah Mullen, Brandon North, Tucker Sears, Lorena Vitela, |

|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, These bright and committed young people represent |

| 27 | 27 | | the best of the Lone Star State, and their first-place win is a |

| 28 | 28 | | testament to the energy, engagement, and teamwork they demonstrated |
