 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends of Harold Gene Jones of Ennis
 were deeply saddened by his passing on March 13, 2009, at the age of
 72; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Harold Jones was born on August
 10, 1936, to Raymond and Eva Jones; he graduated from Ennis High
 School in 1954 and went on to attend Arlington State College and
 serve his country as a member of the United States Army; and
 WHEREAS, In partnership with his son, Donald, Mr. Jones
 founded and co-owned the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris; a
 successful real estate developer, he owned or co-owned numerous
 other residential and commercial properties in the area, including
 Nationwide Computer, Commercial State Bank, and the Ennis Country
 Club; and
 WHEREAS, Committed to the betterment of his community, he
 volunteered for the board of the Ennis Independent School District
 and the Ellis County Appraisal District and held memberships with
 the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis, the Cattleman's
 Association, and the Texas Apartment Association; and
 WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Jones enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, the former Barbara Varner; the father of
 four children, Donald Smith, Lee Edward Jones, Cathy Jones, and the
 late Ronald Wayne Jones, he found pleasure in spending time with his
 grandchildren on his Red Tail Game and Cattle Ranch; and
 WHEREAS, This kind and generous man enhanced the lives of
 many people, and he will be greatly missed by all those who were
 fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold Gene Jones and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Barbara Jones; to his children, Donald Smith and his wife,
 Jeanette, Lee Edward Jones, and Cathy Jones; to his grandchildren,
 Jonathan Jones and Blake and Olivia Smith; to his brother, Bobby Ray
 Jones, and his wife, Nancy; to his sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean
 Jones; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold Gene
 Jones.
