5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends of Harold Gene Jones of Ennis |

6 | 6 | | were deeply saddened by his passing on March 13, 2009, at the age of |
---|
7 | 7 | | 72; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Harold Jones was born on August |
---|
9 | 9 | | 10, 1936, to Raymond and Eva Jones; he graduated from Ennis High |
---|
10 | 10 | | School in 1954 and went on to attend Arlington State College and |
---|
11 | 11 | | serve his country as a member of the United States Army; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, In partnership with his son, Donald, Mr. Jones |
---|
13 | 13 | | founded and co-owned the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris; a |
---|
14 | 14 | | successful real estate developer, he owned or co-owned numerous |
---|
15 | 15 | | other residential and commercial properties in the area, including |
---|
16 | 16 | | Nationwide Computer, Commercial State Bank, and the Ennis Country |
---|
17 | 17 | | Club; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Committed to the betterment of his community, he |
---|
19 | 19 | | volunteered for the board of the Ennis Independent School District |
---|
20 | 20 | | and the Ellis County Appraisal District and held memberships with |
---|
21 | 21 | | the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis, the Cattleman's |
---|
22 | 22 | | Association, and the Texas Apartment Association; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Jones enjoyed the love |
---|
24 | 24 | | and support of his wife, the former Barbara Varner; the father of |
---|
25 | 25 | | four children, Donald Smith, Lee Edward Jones, Cathy Jones, and the |
---|
26 | 26 | | late Ronald Wayne Jones, he found pleasure in spending time with his |
---|
27 | 27 | | grandchildren on his Red Tail Game and Cattle Ranch; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, This kind and generous man enhanced the lives of |
---|
29 | 29 | | many people, and he will be greatly missed by all those who were |
---|
30 | 30 | | fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now, |
---|
31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harold Gene Jones and |
---|
34 | 34 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
---|
35 | 35 | | Barbara Jones; to his children, Donald Smith and his wife, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Jeanette, Lee Edward Jones, and Cathy Jones; to his grandchildren, |
