| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Roland |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Glen Rogers of Waxahachie, who passed away on February 13, 2009, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 82; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Waxahachie on February 5, 1927, to Steve and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Virgie Rogers, Roland Rogers graduated from Waxahachie High School |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and answered his nation's call to duty with service in the U.S. Army |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | during World War II; he married the former Dorothy Boyd on December |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 24, 1946, and the couple shared 62 rewarding years together and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | raised three children, Glenda, Vikki, and Alan; with the passing |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | years, their family grew to include seven grandchildren and two |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rogers worked as internal manager and director |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of maintenance for the Texas Baptist Home for Children, and his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | career there spanned 31 years until his retirement; a longtime |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | member of Farley Street Baptist Church, he served as a deacon and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Sunday school teacher and sat on numerous committees, and in his |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | free time he was an avid golfer and fisherman; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Roland Rogers lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and though he will be greatly missed, he leaves his loved ones with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a wealth of fond memories of the happy times they spent in his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | company; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roland Glen Rogers and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Dorothy Rogers; to his children, Glenda Pevehouse and her husband, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Morris, Vikki Odom and her husband, Randy, and Alan Rogers and his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | wife, Suzanne; to his seven grandchildren and two |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | great-grandchildren; to his sister, Margree Mitchell; to his |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | sister-in-law, Ina Shireman; and to his other relatives and |

| 34 | 34 | | friends; and, be it further |
