No. 2725 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Rudy Garza has rendered outstanding service during the 81st Legislative Session as the intergovernmental relations director for the City of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Garza went on to earn a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Texas in 2004, and that same year he was named a "Business School All Star" by the Dallas Business Journal; he later joined TXU Energy, working in the engineering, customer service, regulatory, and legislative sectors in both Dallas and Austin over the next 15 years, and he became the company's chief lobbyist and state advocacy director; and WHEREAS, In 2003, Mr. Garza returned to his hometown of Corpus Christi and accepted his current position as a representative of the city at the state and national levels; he also remains active in the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, the National League of Cities, and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, and he has served on the boards of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce and TEX-21; and WHEREAS, With the utmost dedication, Rudy Garza works tirelessly in behalf of his fellow residents of Corpus Christi, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his notable contributions to the city; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Rudy Garza on his service as the intergovernmental relations director for the City of Corpus Christi and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
