| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rudy Garza has rendered outstanding service during |

| 6 | 6 | | the 81st Legislative Session as the intergovernmental relations |

| 7 | 7 | | director for the City of Corpus Christi; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from The University of Texas at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Austin, Mr. Garza went on to earn a master's degree in business |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | administration from the University of North Texas in 2004, and that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | same year he was named a "Business School All Star" by the Dallas |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Business Journal; he later joined TXU Energy, working in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | engineering, customer service, regulatory, and legislative sectors |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in both Dallas and Austin over the next 15 years, and he became the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | company's chief lobbyist and state advocacy director; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In 2003, Mr. Garza returned to his hometown of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Corpus Christi and accepted his current position as a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | representative of the city at the state and national levels; he also |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | remains active in the Southwest Minority Supplier Development |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Council, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Officials, the National League of Cities, and the Coastal Bend |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Council of Governments, and he has served on the boards of the Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce and TEX-21; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, With the utmost dedication, Rudy Garza works |

| 26 | 26 | | tirelessly in behalf of his fellow residents of Corpus Christi, and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | he may indeed reflect with pride on his notable contributions to the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | city; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor Rudy Garza on his service as the |
