| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |

| 6 | 6 | | honor Katherine Butler for her outstanding work as an intern in the |

| 7 | 7 | | office of State Representative Debbie Riddle; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Katherine Butler possesses the rare ability to be |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | completely at ease with individuals from every walk of life, and she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | is as adept at dealing with outspoken personalities as she is at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | drawing out more reserved individuals; throughout the session, no |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | matter how crowded or crazy the office became, she was unfailingly |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | gracious and welcoming of visitors; time and again, legislative |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | staffers had a bad day turned around by a conversation with this |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | relentlessly perky young woman; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Butler's warmth and vivacity were more than |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | matched by her effectiveness at whatever job she undertook; she was |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | consistently reliable in dealing with research and constituent |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | correspondence; indeed, apart from her uncharacteristic defeat by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the LMS Bill Tracking System and her inexplicable affinity for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | McDonald's, she was one of the all-time stars in the office, making |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | her a shoo-in for taking over if the chief of staff had proven |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | unable to complete his reign and setting the bar very high for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | future interns; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Despite her unique ability to summon inclement |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | weather repeatedly on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, her coworkers |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | forecast nothing but blue skies ahead for this talented Texan; now a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | bona fide college graduate, Katherine Butler will continue to win |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the affection and admiration of all who are privileged to work with |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | her in the years to come, and it is most fitting to recognize her for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby commend Katherine Butler for her service as an |

| 34 | 34 | | intern in the office of State Representative Debbie Riddle and |

| 35 | 35 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
