| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |

| 6 | 6 | | honor Adam Kowis for his outstanding work as an intern in the office |

| 7 | 7 | | of State Representative Debbie Riddle; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A devotee of The Lord of the Rings, Adam Kowis |

| 9 | 9 | | happens to bear a striking resemblance to Frodo Baggins, a fact |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | often remarked on with unholy glee by the chief of staff; indeed, he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | has a hobbit's love of squirreling things away in his desk and also, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | alas, a hobbit's sense of fashion in dress and in hair; like Gaffer |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Gamgee after a few pints at the Green Dragon in Bywater, he is also |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | an inveterate contrarian, voicing objections to all conceivable |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | political positions; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kowis is further possessed of a hobbit's cunning |

| 17 | 17 | | and fortitude, which was fully in evidence when he led an effort to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | bail the chief of staff out of jail after a clerical error led to his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | mistaken arrest; also an avid outdoorsman, Mr. Kowis hopes to meet |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | his end, many years from now, in an epic, hand-to-paw battle against |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a grizzly; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Now that he has his college degree securely in his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | rear-view mirror, Adam Kowis will no doubt use his considerable |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | talents to succeed wherever his quest may next take him, and it is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | most fitting to recognize him for a job well done; now, therefore, |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Adam Kowis for his service as an intern |

| 29 | 29 | | in the office of State Representative Debbie Riddle and extend to |

| 30 | 30 | | him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
