| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. James A. Curry has benefited countless young |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Texans through his work with Baylor University; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Tarkio College, Dr. Curry earned an |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | M.A. and Ph.D. with honors from the University of Kansas; he chaired |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Baylor's political science department from 1990 to 2004, and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | currently serves as the Bob Bullock Professor of Public Policy and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Administration; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Since 2001, Dr. Curry has directed the Bob Bullock |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Scholars Program, which offers outstanding Baylor students an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | opportunity to work with the Texas Legislature; he also directs the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | university's Washington Internship Program, and his efforts with |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | these initiatives have inspired a passion for public service in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | many participants; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. James Curry has demonstrated an unwavering |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commitment to teaching excellence and to the field of political |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | science, and by combining a comprehensive academic curriculum with |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | real world experience, he is helping to prepare future leaders for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby honor Dr. James A. Curry for his service to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Baylor University and the Bob Bullock Scholars Program and extend |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
