 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Texas Wesleyan University School of Law is
 celebrating the 20th anniversary of its founding in 2009, and this
 milestone is indeed deserving of legislative recognition; and
 WHEREAS, Established as the Dallas/Fort Worth School of Law
 in 1989 and originally located in Irving, the school affiliated
 with Texas Wesleyan in 1992; in 1997, the school moved to its
 present quarters in downtown Fort Worth, where it benefits from its
 proximity to the legal community and state and federal courts, and
 in 1999 it received full approval from the American Bar
 Association; and
 WHEREAS, The law school offers a flexible course schedule
 that accommodates both full-time and part-time evening students;
 those attending Texas Wesleyan have ample opportunity to explore
 their areas of interest and to network with others through the
 school's many student organizations and through programs such as
 the school's law clinic, which handles matters ranging from family
 law and children's issues to social security and SSI disability;
 Texas Wesleyan is also one of the few ABA-approved law schools in
 the country that expect their students to complete a pro bono
 requirement in order to graduate; and
 WHEREAS, So well prepared are Texas Wesleyan students that
 this institution regularly posts a bar passage rate that is among
 the highest of the state's nine law schools; moreover, in a 2003
 Texas Lawyer magazine survey, the faculty of the law school ranked
 first in accessibility and classroom instruction; since the fall of
 2008, the law school has been guided by Dean Frederic White, a
 highly regarded leader whose vision and experience will be
 invaluable to the school in the years ahead; and
 WHEREAS, Committed to excellence in serving its diverse
 student body, the legal profession, and the surrounding community,
 the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law is making an
 immeasurable contribution to the Lone Star State, and it is a
 privilege to join in celebrating this special occasion in its proud
 history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding
 of the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and extend to all
 those associated with the school sincere best wishes for continued
 success in all their endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the School of Law as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
