| 7 | 7 | | indeed to welcome him back to the historic Lovelady Old Gym on |

| 8 | 8 | | August 21, 2009, for the fifth consecutive year; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born February 12, 1944, in Meridian, Mississippi, |

| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Bandy moved to San Antonio with his family at the age of six; he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | was a rodeo rider during his high school years, until a succession |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of injuries ended that career; he became a sheet metal worker and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | sang in country nightclubs, and although his first record deal |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | failed to lead to fame and fortune, he persevered, pawning |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | furniture and taking out a loan to finance recording sessions; |

| 16 | 16 | | Footprint Records finally released 500 copies of his single "I Just |

| 17 | 17 | | Started Hatin' Cheatin' Songs Today," and fast-paced sales led the |

| 18 | 18 | | GRC label to acquire the rights to what would become Mr. Bandy's |

| 35 | 35 | | concert appearances at the White House; in subsequent years, he |

| 36 | 36 | | became one of the top draws in Branson, Missouri, while maintaining |

| 37 | 37 | | a busy schedule on the road; residents of Lovelady are honored that |

| 38 | 38 | | this country music icon feels so comfortable in their hometown that |

| 39 | 39 | | he has become a regular visitor; now, therefore, be it |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 41 | 41 | | Legislature hereby recognize August 21, 2009, as Moe Bandy Day in |

| 42 | 42 | | Lovelady and extend to Mr. Bandy and his countless fans best wishes |
