 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Mitchell Craig Chaney of Brownsville has
 distinguished himself over the course of his legal career, and it is
 indeed a pleasure to recognize his outstanding achievements; and
 WHEREAS, The son of Ernie Joe and Margie Lee Hall Chaney,
 Mitchell Chaney was born on June 15, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri;
 he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas
 in 1978 and a juris doctor degree from the institution's School of
 Law in 1981; the following year, he married the former Susan
 Kathleen Cannon, and the couple are the proud parents of two
 children, Nell Katherine and James Stuart; and
 WHEREAS, On concluding his studies, Mr. Chaney relocated to
 Brownsville and became an associate at Royston, Rayzor, Vickery,
 and Williams; in 1986, he joined Rodriguez and Colvin, and he
 remains a partner in the firm, which is known today as Colvin,
 Chaney, Saenz and Rodriguez, L.L.P., and has a reputation as one of
 the leading corporate litigation and insurance defense firms in
 South Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his colleagues, Mr. Chaney has
 been named a Texas Super Lawyer, and he serves on the board of the
 Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Inc.; a member of the State
 Bar of Texas, he has also been affiliated with such organizations as
 the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of the
 Fifth Federal Circuit, the National Association of Railroad Trial
 Counsel, the Cameron County Bar Association, and the Texas Criminal
 Defense Lawyers Association; in addition, he has been active in his
 community, and he was president of the City of Brownsville Heritage
 Council; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, Mitchell Chaney has demonstrated
 the utmost dedication to his family and to his profession, and he is
 an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Mitchell Craig Chaney on his accomplished
 career and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success
 and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Chaney as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
