44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Pastor John A. Hall of San Antonio died on April 18,
66 2009, leaving his circle of family and friends with treasured
77 memories of time spent in his company; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Cuero on July 18, 1921, to Reverend and Mrs.
99 C. H. Hall, John Hall served his country with distinction during
1010 World War II as a member of the U.S. Army's 304th Aviation Squadron
1111 in the Pacific theater; and
1212 WHEREAS, Returning stateside after the war, he earned a
1313 bachelor's degree from St. Mary's University and went on to graduate
1414 from Guadalupe Theological College with his doctoral degree in
1515 divinity; he served as an instructor at that institution for more
1616 than four decades and held the post of dean of student affairs; and
1717 WHEREAS, After leading the congregation of Friendship
1818 Baptist Church in Luling, Pastor Hall was pastor of Trinity
1919 Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio from 1958 to 2008, and he
2020 was honored with the title pastor emeritus; a mentor to many young
2121 ministers, he was closely associated with the San Antonio
2222 Comprehensive Nutrition Project, a drug rehabilitation program
2323 named Genesis, the creation of radio, television, and video
2424 ministries, and the establishment of a daily prayer vigil at
2525 Trinity that has operated continuously since its inception in 1978;
2626 his professional affiliations included the Baptist Ministers Union
2727 of San Antonio and the National Baptist Convention of America; and
2828 WHEREAS, With his wife, the former Lucille Navarro, Pastor
2929 Hall shared 30 years of marriage until the time of her passing;
3030 fortunate to find love a second time, he and his wife, Juanita,
3131 together enjoyed a rewarding relationship and many happy times
3232 together; and
3333 WHEREAS, Pastor Hall was truly a blessing in the lives of
3434 countless people, and he will be deeply missed by all those who were
3535 fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now,
3636 therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3838 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Pastor John A. Hall
3939 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
4040 wife, Juanita Hall; to his daughter, Mary Ellen Hall Davis; to his
4141 granddaughter, Sherice Williams; to his great-granddaughter,
4242 Thelma; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4343 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4444 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4545 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Hall.
