5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Pastor John A. Hall of San Antonio died on April 18, |

6 | 6 | | 2009, leaving his circle of family and friends with treasured |
---|
7 | 7 | | memories of time spent in his company; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Cuero on July 18, 1921, to Reverend and Mrs. |
---|
9 | 9 | | C. H. Hall, John Hall served his country with distinction during |
---|
10 | 10 | | World War II as a member of the U.S. Army's 304th Aviation Squadron |
---|
11 | 11 | | in the Pacific theater; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Returning stateside after the war, he earned a |
---|
13 | 13 | | bachelor's degree from St. Mary's University and went on to graduate |
---|
14 | 14 | | from Guadalupe Theological College with his doctoral degree in |
---|
15 | 15 | | divinity; he served as an instructor at that institution for more |
---|
16 | 16 | | than four decades and held the post of dean of student affairs; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, After leading the congregation of Friendship |
---|
18 | 18 | | Baptist Church in Luling, Pastor Hall was pastor of Trinity |
---|
19 | 19 | | Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio from 1958 to 2008, and he |
---|
20 | 20 | | was honored with the title pastor emeritus; a mentor to many young |
---|
21 | 21 | | ministers, he was closely associated with the San Antonio |
---|
22 | 22 | | Comprehensive Nutrition Project, a drug rehabilitation program |
---|
23 | 23 | | named Genesis, the creation of radio, television, and video |
---|
24 | 24 | | ministries, and the establishment of a daily prayer vigil at |
---|
25 | 25 | | Trinity that has operated continuously since its inception in 1978; |
---|
26 | 26 | | his professional affiliations included the Baptist Ministers Union |
---|
27 | 27 | | of San Antonio and the National Baptist Convention of America; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, With his wife, the former Lucille Navarro, Pastor |
---|
29 | 29 | | Hall shared 30 years of marriage until the time of her passing; |
---|
30 | 30 | | fortunate to find love a second time, he and his wife, Juanita, |
---|
31 | 31 | | together enjoyed a rewarding relationship and many happy times |
---|
32 | 32 | | together; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Hall was truly a blessing in the lives of |
---|
34 | 34 | | countless people, and he will be deeply missed by all those who were |
---|
35 | 35 | | fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now, |
---|
36 | 36 | | therefore, be it |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
38 | 38 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Pastor John A. Hall |
---|
39 | 39 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
40 | 40 | | wife, Juanita Hall; to his daughter, Mary Ellen Hall Davis; to his |
---|
41 | 41 | | granddaughter, Sherice Williams; to his great-granddaughter, |

42 | 42 | | Thelma; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
