| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Midland Habitat for Humanity held its inaugural |

| 6 | 6 | | Women's Build event on May 2, 2009; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Organized to involve more women in Habitat projects |

| 8 | 8 | | and to provide more safe and affordable housing for low-income |

| 9 | 9 | | families, the Women's Build took place on a plot of land given to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the organization through the city's Community Development Block |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Grant; this house is the 89th home to be built by Midland Habitat |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | for Humanity, and will belong to local resident Tamika McAfee when |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | it is completed; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Able guidance and steady encouragement were |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provided throughout the project by crew chief Rita Ehler and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | construction coordinator Tony Valles; Mr. Valles has 35 years of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | experience in the construction industry and 4 years with Habitat |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for Humanity, which proved invaluable to the team of mostly |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | first-time homebuilders; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Decent housing promotes the health and physical |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | safety of individuals, in addition to fostering stable |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | neighborhoods and economic development, and it is indeed most |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fitting to recognize Midland Habitat for Humanity and the Women's |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Build participants for their selfless contributions in behalf of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the inaugural Midland Habitat for |

| 28 | 28 | | Humanity Women's Build and extend to everyone involved in this |
