5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot begin to express the heartache felt at |

6 | 6 | | the loss of Gregory L. Cocke of Weatherford, who passed away on |
---|
7 | 7 | | March 14, 2009, at the age of 41; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A highly regarded member of the Fort Worth Fire |
---|
9 | 9 | | Department, Mr. Cocke was an engineer at Station No. 23; he had just |
---|
10 | 10 | | completed a strenuous training exercise when he suffered an |
---|
11 | 11 | | aneurysm; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Greg Cocke graduated from Azle High School in 1986 |
---|
13 | 13 | | and received a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from |
---|
14 | 14 | | Abilene Christian University in 1990; after deciding to make |
---|
15 | 15 | | firefighting his career, he completed training at the Fort Worth |
---|
16 | 16 | | Fire Academy in May 1993; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Married in 1991 to the former Teresa Moore, Mr. |
---|
18 | 18 | | Cocke was a devoted husband and the proud father of three children, |
---|
19 | 19 | | Cora and twins Alissa and Robby; he adored his children, and he |
---|
20 | 20 | | encouraged and supported them in all their endeavors; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cocke loved family vacations and spending time |
---|
22 | 22 | | in the outdoors; an avid hunter and fisherman, he was also an ardent |
---|
23 | 23 | | computer technology enthusiast; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan held membership in the Fort |
---|
25 | 25 | | Worth Professional Firefighters Association, Local No. 440, and the |
---|
26 | 26 | | International Association of Fire Fighters; in addition, he was a |
---|
27 | 27 | | valued congregant of the Azle Church of Christ; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, The community that Greg Cocke served with valor and |
---|
29 | 29 | | dedication owes him a lasting debt of gratitude, and those who were |
---|
30 | 30 | | blessed to share in his life will forever hold him close in their |
---|
31 | 31 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gregory L. Cocke and |
---|
34 | 34 | | extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his |
---|
35 | 35 | | beloved wife, Teresa Cocke; to his children, Alissa Paulette, |
---|
36 | 36 | | Robert Taylor, and Cora Ann Cocke; to his mother, Phyllis Cocke; to |

37 | 37 | | his brother, Randall Cocke, and his wife, Stefni; to his sisters, |

38 | 38 | | Lisa Hamiter and her husband, Dr. Tom Hamiter, Jeanette Cocke, and |
