44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Words cannot begin to express the heartache felt at
66 the loss of Gregory L. Cocke of Weatherford, who passed away on
77 March 14, 2009, at the age of 41; and
88 WHEREAS, A highly regarded member of the Fort Worth Fire
99 Department, Mr. Cocke was an engineer at Station No. 23; he had just
1010 completed a strenuous training exercise when he suffered an
1111 aneurysm; and
1212 WHEREAS, Greg Cocke graduated from Azle High School in 1986
1313 and received a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from
1414 Abilene Christian University in 1990; after deciding to make
1515 firefighting his career, he completed training at the Fort Worth
1616 Fire Academy in May 1993; and
1717 WHEREAS, Married in 1991 to the former Teresa Moore, Mr.
1818 Cocke was a devoted husband and the proud father of three children,
1919 Cora and twins Alissa and Robby; he adored his children, and he
2020 encouraged and supported them in all their endeavors; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Cocke loved family vacations and spending time
2222 in the outdoors; an avid hunter and fisherman, he was also an ardent
2323 computer technology enthusiast; and
2424 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan held membership in the Fort
2525 Worth Professional Firefighters Association, Local No. 440, and the
2626 International Association of Fire Fighters; in addition, he was a
2727 valued congregant of the Azle Church of Christ; and
2828 WHEREAS, The community that Greg Cocke served with valor and
2929 dedication owes him a lasting debt of gratitude, and those who were
3030 blessed to share in his life will forever hold him close in their
3131 hearts; now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3333 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Gregory L. Cocke and
3434 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
3535 beloved wife, Teresa Cocke; to his children, Alissa Paulette,
3636 Robert Taylor, and Cora Ann Cocke; to his mother, Phyllis Cocke; to
3737 his brother, Randall Cocke, and his wife, Stefni; to his sisters,
3838 Lisa Hamiter and her husband, Dr. Tom Hamiter, Jeanette Cocke, and
3939 Melissa Perry; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
4040 it further
4141 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4242 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4343 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Greg Cocke.
