5	5	WHEREAS, Residents of Kerrville lost a beloved friend and
6	6	renowned philanthropist with the death of Kathleen Cox Cailloux,
7	7	who passed away on June 16, 2007, at the age of 92; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born on November 27, 1914, in Monroe City, Missouri,
9	9	the former Kathy Cox grew up in Oklahoma City, where she graduated
10	10	from Classen High School in 1933; she went on to pursue a modeling
11	11	career in New York City and later moved with her family to Houston;
12	12	in 1942, she married Floyd Cailloux, a friend from school, and the
13	13	couple became the parents of three children, Patrick, Paula, and
14	14	Ken; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Mrs. Cailloux and her husband retired to Kerrville
16	16	in the early 1980s and subsequently supported numerous charitable
17	17	endeavors in the Texas Hill Country and throughout the state; among
18	18	the organizations that benefited from their generosity are
19	19	Schreiner University, the Gladney Center for Adoption, the Scottish
20	20	Rite Children's Hospital, The University of Texas at Austin, the M.
21	21	D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children
22	22	in Galveston and Houston; in 1994, they founded the Floyd A. and
23	23	Kathleen C. Cailloux Foundation to continue their patronage of
24	24	nonprofit organizations in the Kerr County region; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Following her husband's death in 1997, Mrs. Cailloux
26	26	further contributed to Kerrville through the development of such
27	27	organizations as the Cailloux Charter School at the Hill Country
28	28	Youth Ranch, the Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the
29	29	Performing Arts, and the Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of
30	30	Kerrville; and
31	31	WHEREAS, This esteemed woman was a devoted mother and
32	32	grandmother who was known for her characteristic good nature and
33	33	luminous smile; she enjoyed a variety of pursuits, including
34	34	reading, gardening, cooking, and horseback riding, and she
35	35	delighted in the company of her dogs; a lifelong Methodist, she drew
36	36	strength from her faith and was a valued member of the First United
37	37	Methodist Church of Kerrville; and
38	38	WHEREAS, Committed to making the world a better place, Kathy
39	39	Cailloux graciously shared her time and resources in behalf of her
40	40	fellow citizens, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy,
41	41	and benevolence that will long resonate in Kerrville and the Lone
42	42	Star State; now, therefore, be it
43	43	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
44	44	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kathleen Cox Cailloux
45	45	and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
46	46	children, Paula Cailloux Heileman and her husband, Blacky, and
47	47	Kenneth Floyd Cailloux and his wife, Sandy; to her grandchildren,
48	48	Robert Stephen Andresakis and his wife, Summer, Ben Modisett and
49	49	his wife, Leslie, and Cori Modisett; and to her
50	50	great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jack Modisett; and, be it further
51	51	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
52	52	prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
53	53	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kathleen
54	54	Cox Cailloux.
