 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Fort Worth
 gathered on March 29, 2009, to pay tribute to their pastor, the
 Reverend James C. Brown, for his 14 years of service to the
 congregation; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Abilene, Reverend Brown was born to
 Grant and Faye Brown; he attended Macedonia Baptist Church under
 the leadership of the late Reverend T. G. Oliphant and graduated
 from Abilene High School; and
 WHEREAS, He earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Christian
 University and his master's degree from Amberton University; he is
 also a licensed funeral director; and
 WHEREAS, In November 1993, Reverend Brown answered the call
 to preach under the leadership of the founding pastor of Sweet Home
 Baptist Church, the Reverend Roy W. Bivens, Sr.; in March 1995,
 Reverend Brown was installed as the second pastor in the history of
 the church; and
 WHEREAS, Pastor Brown has been responsible for the overall
 operation of the church, preaching, teaching, leading the
 congregation in its spiritual growth and development, and assisting
 members with spiritual and personal concerns; he also represents
 the church at all levels of convention and association involvement
 and established the Abundant Life Ministry to help the less
 fortunate; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his years of service at Sweet Home
 Baptist, Pastor Brown is the moderator of the Progressive West
 Texas Baptist District Association and currently serves as
 financial secretary of the minister's conference of the National
 Missionary Baptist Convention of America; and
 WHEREAS, Pastor Brown has been blessed with a loving wife,
 the former Jarilyn S. Scott, two children, Carey and Jessica, and
 two grandchildren, Devyn Michele and Deion James; and
 WHEREAS, Reverend Brown has led Sweet Home Baptist Church
 with compassion, wisdom, and insight, and he has earned the lasting
 respect and admiration of his congregants; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend James C. Brown on his
 14th pastoral anniversary with Sweet Home Baptist Church and extend
 to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Reverend Brown as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
