5	5	WHEREAS, The Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas are
6	6	committed to honoring United States military personnel and to
7	7	paying special tribute to those who have given their lives in
8	8	service to the country; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Affiliated with a national organization that has
10	10	more than 158,000 members across the United States, the Patriot
11	11	Guard Riders of South Texas includes both veterans and nonveterans
12	12	and riders and nonriders, and its membership is open to individuals
13	13	representing a variety of political opinions; what unites this
14	14	diverse group is their unwavering respect for the armed forces and
15	15	their desire to pay homage to America's fallen heroes; and
16	16	WHEREAS, The South Texas chapter of the PGR carries out its
17	17	objectives in a number of ways, including visits to veterans' homes
18	18	and VA hospitals; its members also come together to send off
19	19	servicemen and servicewomen who are departing for tours of duty and
20	20	to welcome those who are returning home; and
21	21	WHEREAS, The primary objective of the Patriot Guard Riders is
22	22	to attend funerals and memorials for fallen military personnel as
23	23	guests of the families who have lost their loved ones; through
24	24	strictly nonviolent means, PGR members may also shield the
25	25	attendees from interruptions to the services created by protestors;
26	26	by supporting the mourning families, their friends, and their
27	27	communities, this notable organization demonstrates a deep
28	28	appreciation for those who have fought to ensure the freedom and
29	29	security of the nation; and
30	30	WHEREAS, The Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas are
31	31	contributing to the greater good by honoring fallen soldiers and
32	32	supporting military families, and their efforts serve as an
33	33	important reminder that members of the armed forces are deserving
34	34	of the utmost admiration for their dedication and bravery; now,
35	35	therefore, be it
36	36	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
37	37	Legislature hereby commend the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas
38	38	for the outstanding service they have rendered to U.S. military
39	39	personnel and their families and extend to the members of the
40	40	organization best wishes for continued success with their important
41	41	work; and, be it further
42	42	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
43	43	prepared for the Patriot Guard Riders of South Texas as an
44	44	expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
