R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas Credit Union League is celebrating its
75th anniversary in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1934, the Texas Credit Union League
has striven to protect credit unions and to promote their growth,
strength, and unity; thanks in part to the organization's efforts,
the number of Texas credit unions has increased from 63 to 570, with
membership growing from 8,000 to 7 million; credit union assets,
which were $500,000 in 1934, today top $58 billion; and
WHEREAS, Texas credit unions are based on a cooperative
business model, with each institution owned and led by members; the
Texas Credit Union League helps members achieve their financial
goals by serving as an advocate with state and federal government,
offering continuing education to credit union employees and
volunteers, and providing regulatory compliance and operations
assistance to Texas credit unions; and
WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, the Texas Credit
Union League has been an essential partner to credit unions across
the Lone Star State, and it is most fitting to recognize the
association on this noteworthy occasion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Texas
Credit Union League and extend to its members sincere best wishes
for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
