| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Credit Union League is celebrating its |

| 6 | 6 | | 75th anniversary in 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1934, the Texas Credit Union League |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | has striven to protect credit unions and to promote their growth, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | strength, and unity; thanks in part to the organization's efforts, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the number of Texas credit unions has increased from 63 to 570, with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | membership growing from 8,000 to 7 million; credit union assets, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | which were $500,000 in 1934, today top $58 billion; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Texas credit unions are based on a cooperative |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | business model, with each institution owned and led by members; the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Texas Credit Union League helps members achieve their financial |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | goals by serving as an advocate with state and federal government, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | offering continuing education to credit union employees and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | volunteers, and providing regulatory compliance and operations |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | assistance to Texas credit unions; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, For three-quarters of a century, the Texas Credit |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Union League has been an essential partner to credit unions across |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Lone Star State, and it is most fitting to recognize the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | association on this noteworthy occasion; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Credit Union League and extend to its members sincere best wishes |
