| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Citizens of Frisco are coming together on the |

| 6 | 6 | | weekend of October 16 through 18, 2009, to celebrate the first |

| 7 | 7 | | annual Frisco Arts Festival; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Presented by Frisco Arts and the Newman Village |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | community, the juried festival features work from more than 100 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | professional artists from the United States and abroad; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, This family-friendly event will also include booths |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | providing samples from local restaurants, as well as local |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | musicians and performers displaying their talent on the community |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | stage and professional acts performing on the main stage; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds will benefit a number of local nonprofit |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | arts organizations, including the Frisco Area Children's Theater, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Frisco Chorale, the Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra, and the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Plano Symphony Orchestra; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Local arts festivals are an immeasurable asset to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | their communities, providing enrichment and recreation to those who |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | attend and contributing significantly to the local economy, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this exciting new festival promises to become a much-anticipated |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | annual affair; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the first annual Frisco Arts |

| 26 | 26 | | Festival and extend to the festival's organizers, artists, and |

| 27 | 27 | | attendees sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event; |
