44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Patrick Steck has provided valuable public service
66 to the people of the great State of Texas as a legislative aide in
77 the office of Representative Dan Gattis during the 81st Legislative
88 Session; and
99 WHEREAS, A December 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University
1010 with a bachelor's degree in economics, Mr. Steck sought to apply his
1111 academic knowledge by gaining practical hands-on experience in
1212 Texas government through the prestigious Agricultural and Natural
1313 Resources Policy Internship Program at Texas A&M University; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Steck was selected for his internship assignment
1515 by the office of Representative Dan Gattis after an extensive
1616 interview process, during which he thoughtfully and succinctly
1717 answered the many and varied questions posed to intern candidates;
1818 and
1919 WHEREAS, Mr. Steck has exceeded all expectations of
2020 Representative Gattis and his office colleagues, skillfully
2121 handling the many diverse responsibilities assigned to him in his
2222 role as a legislative aide; he worked on all aspects of the
2323 representative's legislative agenda, serving as principal staffer
2424 assigned to the House Committee on Technology, Economic
2525 Development, and Workforce, where he was a natural fit due to his
2626 keen interest in technological advancements and economic policy;
2727 ably performing all of his assigned committee responsibilities, he
2828 reviewed and provided detailed and accurate analyses of all bills
2929 heard by the committee; and
3030 WHEREAS, Well-liked by his fellow staffers for his team
3131 attitude, friendly personality, and professional work habits, he
3232 demonstrated a genuine desire to learn any task and complete all
3333 assignments in a superior and timely fashion; these efforts clearly
3434 contributed to the success of the legislation authored and
3535 sponsored by Representative Gattis during the session; and
3636 WHEREAS, Mr. Steck is committed to furthering his knowledge
3737 in public policy and has been accepted as a part of the fall class of
3838 the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of
3939 Texas; given his demonstrated scholarship and legislative
4040 experience gained during this session, this Fightin' Texas Aggie
4141 will undoubtedly excel, and teach Longhorns how to "Whoop" in the
4242 finest Aggie tradition; now, therefore, be it
4343 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st
4444 Legislature hereby commend Patrick Steck for his service as a
4545 legislative aide in the office of State Representative Dan Gattis,
4646 thank him for his work in behalf of the citizens of Texas, and
4747 extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
4848 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4949 prepared for Mr. Steck as an expression of high regard by the Texas
5050 House of Representatives.
