5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Patrick Steck has provided valuable public service |

6 | 6 | | to the people of the great State of Texas as a legislative aide in |

7 | 7 | | the office of Representative Dan Gattis during the 81st Legislative |

8 | 8 | | Session; and |
---|
9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A December 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University |
---|
10 | 10 | | with a bachelor's degree in economics, Mr. Steck sought to apply his |
---|
11 | 11 | | academic knowledge by gaining practical hands-on experience in |
---|
12 | 12 | | Texas government through the prestigious Agricultural and Natural |
---|
13 | 13 | | Resources Policy Internship Program at Texas A&M University; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Steck was selected for his internship assignment |
---|
15 | 15 | | by the office of Representative Dan Gattis after an extensive |
---|
16 | 16 | | interview process, during which he thoughtfully and succinctly |
---|
17 | 17 | | answered the many and varied questions posed to intern candidates; |
---|
18 | 18 | | and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Steck has exceeded all expectations of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Representative Gattis and his office colleagues, skillfully |
---|
21 | 21 | | handling the many diverse responsibilities assigned to him in his |
---|
22 | 22 | | role as a legislative aide; he worked on all aspects of the |
---|
23 | 23 | | representative's legislative agenda, serving as principal staffer |
---|
24 | 24 | | assigned to the House Committee on Technology, Economic |
---|
25 | 25 | | Development, and Workforce, where he was a natural fit due to his |
---|
26 | 26 | | keen interest in technological advancements and economic policy; |
---|
27 | 27 | | ably performing all of his assigned committee responsibilities, he |
---|
28 | 28 | | reviewed and provided detailed and accurate analyses of all bills |
---|
29 | 29 | | heard by the committee; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Well-liked by his fellow staffers for his team |
---|
31 | 31 | | attitude, friendly personality, and professional work habits, he |
---|
32 | 32 | | demonstrated a genuine desire to learn any task and complete all |
---|
33 | 33 | | assignments in a superior and timely fashion; these efforts clearly |
---|
34 | 34 | | contributed to the success of the legislation authored and |
---|
35 | 35 | | sponsored by Representative Gattis during the session; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Steck is committed to furthering his knowledge |
---|
37 | 37 | | in public policy and has been accepted as a part of the fall class of |
---|
38 | 38 | | the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of |
---|
39 | 39 | | Texas; given his demonstrated scholarship and legislative |
---|
40 | 40 | | experience gained during this session, this Fightin' Texas Aggie |
---|
41 | 41 | | will undoubtedly excel, and teach Longhorns how to "Whoop" in the |
---|
42 | 42 | | finest Aggie tradition; now, therefore, be it |

43 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st |
---|
44 | 44 | | Legislature hereby commend Patrick Steck for his service as a |
---|
45 | 45 | | legislative aide in the office of State Representative Dan Gattis, |
---|
46 | 46 | | thank him for his work in behalf of the citizens of Texas, and |
---|
47 | 47 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
---|
48 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

49 | 49 | | prepared for Mr. Steck as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
