5	5	WHEREAS, Former state representative David Counts has been a
6	6	committed Freemason for nearly half a century, and his work in
7	7	behalf of that notable organization is truly worthy of special
8	8	recognition; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Mr. Counts became a Master Mason in 1961 and went on
10	10	to serve as Worshipful Master of Orient Lodge No. 905 in 1970, 2003,
11	11	and 2004; along the way, his efforts were acknowledged by his fellow
12	12	Masons with the Golden Trowel Award; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Mr. Counts was appointed District Deputy Grand
14	14	Master for District No. 91 in 1972; he has belonged to a host of
15	15	Masonic groups in the Lone Star State, and he has served the Grand
16	16	Lodge as Grand Orator, Grand Junior Warden, and Grand Senior
17	17	Warden; currently, he holds the prestigious title of Most
18	18	Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of
19	19	Texas; and
20	20	WHEREAS, A graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General
21	21	Staff College, Mr. Counts joined the Texas Army National Guard and
22	22	retired as a colonel after more than three decades of service; the
23	23	founder and owner of Counts Real Estate and president and chair of
24	24	Chap Operating, Inc., an oil production company, Mr. Counts has
25	25	also made time in his busy schedule to benefit many worthy
26	26	organizations and institutions, including the Knox City Lions Club
27	27	and Chamber of Commerce, Hardin-Simmons University, and the
28	28	Scottish Rite Hospital for Children; moreover, he has greatly
29	29	benefited others as a member of the Texas Legislature, sharing his
30	30	expertise on a wide range of issues during his seven terms in the
31	31	house; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of service, David
33	33	Counts has significantly contributed to Freemasonry in the Lone
34	34	Star State and, in so doing, he has earned the admiration and
35	35	appreciation of all who know him; now, therefore, be it
36	36	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
37	37	Legislature hereby honor David Counts for his many years of service
38	38	as a Freemason and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
39	39	success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further
40	40	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
41	41	prepared for Mr. Counts as an expression of high regard by the Texas
42	42	House of Representatives.
