5	5	WHEREAS, Friends and family were greatly saddened by the loss
6	6	of Jack Thomas Garrison of Elm Mott, who passed away on May 2, 2009,
7	7	at the age of 93; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Jack Thomas Garrison was born on August 18, 1915, to
9	9	Lillie May Guffey and John Lee Garrison in Elm Mott; he married the
10	10	former Cathryn Cagle, with whom he nurtured a rewarding
11	11	relationship that spanned more than seven decades; together the
12	12	couple raised two sons, Larry and Jack, and welcomed three
13	13	grandchildren into their treasured family; and
14	14	WHEREAS, In his youth, Mr. Garrison had held a variety of
15	15	jobs, including working at his father's blacksmith shop, wiring
16	16	houses for electricity in the 1930s, and preparing tanks for the
17	17	U.S. Army at Fort Hood during World War II; he spent several years
18	18	as a service writer for local auto dealerships and as the owner and
19	19	operator of a machine shop; he later worked for Texas State
20	20	Technical College Waco, and after his retirement in 1981, he
21	21	enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and fishing; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Jack Garrison led a caring and purposeful life, and
23	23	he will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to
24	24	share in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
25	25	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
26	26	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jack Thomas
27	27	Garrison and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
28	28	to his wife, Cathryn Cagle Garrison; to his children, Larry
29	29	Garrison and his wife, Chandra, and Jack Garrison and his wife,
30	30	Marianne; to his grandchildren; to his brother, Olan "Pinkie"
31	31	Garrison; to his niece, Diane Gillet; to his friends, Roland and
32	32	Wanda Lang; and to his other friends and relatives; and, be it
33	33	further
34	34	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
35	35	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
36	36	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack
37	37	Garrison.
