H.R. No. 2838
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Roy and Charlene Harris celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary on April 22, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Harris were united in matrimony in
Gilmer in 1949; through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling
marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of their
sons, Phil and his wife, Gail, Greg and his wife, Kathy, Bret and
his wife, Judy, and Kyle and his wife, Gayla, as well as eight
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Harris worked as Gregg County auditor for many
years and is retired; Mrs. Harris is a homemaker; the couple enjoy
travelling, especially in their RV; and
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife
have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Roy and Charlene Harris on their
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Harris as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
