| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, John and Joann Harrod of Longview |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 9, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Harrod were united in matrimony in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Louisiana in 1959; through the years, they have nurtured a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | fulfilling marriage and become the parents of five children, Becky |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | McClain, David Harrod, Amy Meachum, Lanna Barry, and the late Mark |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Harrod; their family later grew to include 11 grandchildren and 3 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Harrod answered his nation's call to duty with |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service in the U.S. Army and operated his own mechanic service until |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | his retirement; Mrs. Harrod has served as an administrative |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | assistant for Community Healthcore for more than 20 years; members |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of Calvary Christian Tabernacle, the couple spend much of their |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | free time planning for their dream home, which is currently under |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | construction; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | world during the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate John and Joann Harrod on their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes |

| 29 | 29 | | for continued happiness; and, be it further |
