| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Pfeifer has ably served the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | people of Calhoun County as county judge for seven years, and his |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | knowledge and dedication have earned him the respect of many people |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | along the way; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Elected in 2002, Judge Pfeifer is currently serving |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his second term; his leadership has contributed to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | establishment of a new adult detention center, the renovation of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the courthouse, and the construction of a new EMS station and a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | second courthouse annex, both currently underway; in addition, the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Calhoun County Airport was recently recognized as the most improved |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | airport in the state; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Judge Pfeifer has further contributed to his |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | community through his efforts with the Calhoun County Economic |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Development Corporation, the juvenile board of Calhoun County, the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | County Fair Association, 4-H, the Calhoun County Ministerial |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Alliance, and the First United Methodist Church of Seadrift; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A Calhoun County native, Michael Pfeifer attended |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Sam Houston State University and gained a wealth of experience as a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | self-employed rancher and farmer and as a small business owner; he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | has shared 37 years with his wife, Lynn, with whom he has three |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | children and three grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Judge Pfeifer has made many significant |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | contributions to the betterment of life in Calhoun County over the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | course of his tenure as a public servant, and he may take |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | justifiable pride in his exemplary record of achievement; now, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Judge Michael J. Pfeifer for his committed |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | public service and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; |
