5	5	WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
6	6	at the loss of Texas Army National Guard Captain Robert Vallejo II
7	7	of Richland Hills, who died while bravely serving his country on
8	8	September 18, 2008, at the age of 28; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 149th Aviation
10	10	Regiment, 36th Combat Aviation Brigade, based out of Grand Prairie,
11	11	Captain Vallejo was one of seven soldiers killed when the Chinook
12	12	helicopter he was copiloting went down near Tallil, Iraq; and
13	13	WHEREAS, A native of Beeville, Captain Vallejo was born on
14	14	March 12, 1980, and graduated from Fort Worth's Brewer High School
15	15	in 1998; he went on to attend Texas Christian University, where he
16	16	was active in ROTC; after earning his bachelor's degree, he
17	17	attended flight school in Alabama and fulfilled a longtime dream of
18	18	becoming a pilot; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Captain Vallejo worked as a customer-relations
20	20	manager with Pulte Homes in his civilian life, and enjoyed fishing
21	21	and spending time outdoors in his free time; above all else, he was
22	22	devoted to his loved ones, especially his wife, Hillary; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
24	24	servicemen and servicewomen, whose love for their country inspires
25	25	them to take up military service, and their dedicated efforts and
26	26	enormous sacrifices are deserving of their fellow citizens' deepest
27	27	respect and gratitude; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed
29	29	forces, Robert Vallejo inspired others with his commitment,
30	30	leadership, and courage; although his death has left a void in the
31	31	lives of his loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this
32	32	heroic Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
33	33	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
34	34	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Captain Robert
35	35	Vallejo II and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:
36	36	to his wife, Hillary Vallejo; to his son, Robert Cale Vallejo III;
37	37	to his parents, Robert and Juanita Vallejo; to his sisters, Valerie
38	38	Vallejo, Erica Vallejo, and Teresa Cagigal; to his grandmothers,
39	39	Tina Romero and Maria Vallejo; and to his other relatives and many
40	40	friends; and, be it further
41	41	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
42	42	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
43	43	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain
44	44	Robert Vallejo.
