| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Texas First Responders Day on |

| 6 | 6 | | September 11, 2009, provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to Valley Emergency Medical Services, Inc., for its immeasurable |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | contributions to the region; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since 1982, Valley EMS has remained a vital, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | life-saving resource for countless residents of Edinburg and the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | surrounding communities; this noteworthy organization provides |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 24-hour customer care with fully staffed ambulances, and its |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | emergency medical dispatchers are available around the clock to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | assist callers in critical situations; in addition to providing |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | local transfers, Valley EMS transports patients to facilities in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston, and Galveston, and it offers |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | non-emergency transportation to doctors' offices and other |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | treatment centers; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Also dedicated to community outreach, Valley EMS |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | conducts informative presentations at schools, sponsors local |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | children's groups, and provides medical assistance at special |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | events, such as the All-America City 10K Run/Walk in Edinburg; the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | organization is skillfully led by president and CEO Noe Ramon, Jr., |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and its staff is encouraged to pursue continuing education and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | participate in civic activities; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Valley EMS has demonstrated an unwavering |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commitment to the health and well-being of area Texans, and its work |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | has benefited the greater community in myriad ways; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor Valley EMS, Inc., in conjunction with |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Texas First Responders Day and commend all those associated with |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the organization for their outstanding service; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
