5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Diane Lacy has distinguished herself as a Jeff Davis |

6 | 6 | | County commissioner for six years, and her dedicated leadership has |

7 | 7 | | greatly benefited her fellow residents; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure, Ms. Lacy worked diligently to |
---|
9 | 9 | | promote her vision for maintaining the culture and heritage of Jeff |
---|
10 | 10 | | Davis County and preserving private property rights; she |
---|
11 | 11 | | demonstrated an outstanding commitment to fiduciary responsibility |
---|
12 | 12 | | and prioritizing the needs of the county as a whole, and she served |
---|
13 | 13 | | as the county representative to the Rio Grande Council of |
---|
14 | 14 | | Governments Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Lacy added a new chapter to her ranching |
---|
16 | 16 | | family's proud history of public service; her husband, Chris Lacy, |
---|
17 | 17 | | served as a county commissioner for 12 years, and his grandfather, |
---|
18 | 18 | | Herbert Kokernot, Jr., served in that role for a remarkable 67 |
---|
19 | 19 | | consecutive years; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Ms. Lacy is a |
---|
21 | 21 | | former president of the Davis Mountains Trans-Pecos Heritage |
---|
22 | 22 | | Association, a grassroots organization that strives to protect and |
---|
23 | 23 | | preserve private property rights; she continues to chair its |
---|
24 | 24 | | newsletter, Conservation Roundup, which is distributed free to |
---|
25 | 25 | | schools to educate young people about ranch life, land, livestock, |
---|
26 | 26 | | and wildlife management, and writes a serialized story for each |
---|
27 | 27 | | issue; moreover, she serves on the board of the Big Bend Museum of |
---|
28 | 28 | | Western Heritage; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, This dynamic Fort Davis resident has won numerous |
---|
30 | 30 | | awards in her professional career as a Western artist and |
---|
31 | 31 | | photographer, and her work has appeared in such publications as |
---|
32 | 32 | | Cowboys and Indians Magazine, Cattleman Magazine, and Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Hereford Magazine, as well as in many prestigious exhibitions; in |
---|
34 | 34 | | addition, she works cattle at her family's Kokernot o6 Ranch and is |
---|
35 | 35 | | experienced as a location scout and liaison for the ranch, which has |
---|
36 | 36 | | been featured in national ad campaigns, movies, and such |
---|
37 | 37 | | publications as National Geographic; and |
---|
38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of |
---|
39 | 39 | | life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts |
---|
40 | 40 | | of Diane Lacy have helped to make Jeff Davis County an even better |
---|
41 | 41 | | place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it |
---|
42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
43 | 43 | | Legislature hereby honor Diane Lacy for her exemplary service as a |
---|
44 | 44 | | Jeff Davis County commissioner and extend to her best wishes for |
---|
45 | 45 | | success in her future endeavors; and, be it further |
---|
46 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
