| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Throughout history, the family has served to |

| 6 | 6 | | protect, nurture, and strengthen its members, preparing them to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | thrive in the greater world, and on July 4 and 5, 2009, members of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the Davis family are gathering to recognize the importance of this |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | enduring institution in their own lives; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, John Davis, Sr., initiated the tradition of an |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | annual reunion in 1936 in Madisonville, and since that time, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members of this proud Lone Star family have met on the first weekend |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | in July for fun and fellowship; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The festivities planned for the get-together |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | include a fish fry, a dance, and the traditional wild stew cook-off; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | for many, the weekend represents an opportunity to get reacquainted |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and catch up with developments in each other's lives, while for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | others, the weekend will serve as a new opportunity to form lifelong |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | friendships; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The myriad contributions made by members of the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | extended Davis family are interwoven in the compelling history of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | highly anticipated occasion; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 2009 Davis family reunion and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | extend to its organizers and participants sincere best wishes for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | an enjoyable and memorable event; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prepared for the Davis family as an expression of high regard by the |
|---|
