5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Gerhardt Schulle, Jr., |
---|
6 | 6 | | of San Marcos has contributed to the Lone Star State through his |
---|
7 | 7 | | numerous professional endeavors; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Southwest Texas State University, |
---|
9 | 9 | | where he earned a degree in business administration, Mr. Schulle |
---|
10 | 10 | | served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973; he |
---|
11 | 11 | | was instrumental in the crafting and passage of the Technical |
---|
12 | 12 | | Vocation Act of 1969 and passed 80 percent of the legislation he |
---|
13 | 13 | | introduced on behalf of his constituents; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle subsequently began a career as a |
---|
15 | 15 | | legislative lobbyist, and in 1977, he was recognized by Texas |
---|
16 | 16 | | Business magazine as one of the nine most effective lobbyists in the |
---|
17 | 17 | | state; he built one of the state's strongest political involvement |
---|
18 | 18 | | programs as legislative director for the Texas Association of |
---|
19 | 19 | | Realtors, and he went on to benefit the Texas Society of |
---|
20 | 20 | | Professional Engineers as executive director for 18 years and as a |
---|
21 | 21 | | lobbyist for 25 years; he was a highly effective liaison between |
---|
22 | 22 | | engineers and the legislature, and he worked hard in support of the |
---|
23 | 23 | | Texas Engineering Practice Act, now considered a model for similar |
---|
24 | 24 | | legislation; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Along the way, Mr. Schulle has also advocated for |
---|
26 | 26 | | such organizations as the National Federation of Independent |
---|
27 | 27 | | Business, the Texas Ophthalmic Professional Society, the Opticians |
---|
28 | 28 | | Association of Texas, SBC, the City of Lakeway, the Texas Civil |
---|
29 | 29 | | Justice League, American Pharmacies, the Salado Creek Protection |
---|
30 | 30 | | Committee, and many others; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle has a history of recognizing the need |
---|
32 | 32 | | for and leading the way in reforms to secure and protect a healthy |
---|
33 | 33 | | business climate in Texas, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |
---|
34 | 34 | | his many notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby honor Gerhardt Schulle, Jr., on his legislative |
---|
37 | 37 | | and business achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
---|
38 | 38 | | the future; and, be it further |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
