44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Gerhardt Schulle, Jr.,
66 of San Marcos has contributed to the Lone Star State through his
77 numerous professional endeavors; and
88 WHEREAS, A graduate of Southwest Texas State University,
99 where he earned a degree in business administration, Mr. Schulle
1010 served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1973; he
1111 was instrumental in the crafting and passage of the Technical
1212 Vocation Act of 1969 and passed 80 percent of the legislation he
1313 introduced on behalf of his constituents; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle subsequently began a career as a
1515 legislative lobbyist, and in 1977, he was recognized by Texas
1616 Business magazine as one of the nine most effective lobbyists in the
1717 state; he built one of the state's strongest political involvement
1818 programs as legislative director for the Texas Association of
1919 Realtors, and he went on to benefit the Texas Society of
2020 Professional Engineers as executive director for 18 years and as a
2121 lobbyist for 25 years; he was a highly effective liaison between
2222 engineers and the legislature, and he worked hard in support of the
2323 Texas Engineering Practice Act, now considered a model for similar
2424 legislation; and
2525 WHEREAS, Along the way, Mr. Schulle has also advocated for
2626 such organizations as the National Federation of Independent
2727 Business, the Texas Ophthalmic Professional Society, the Opticians
2828 Association of Texas, SBC, the City of Lakeway, the Texas Civil
2929 Justice League, American Pharmacies, the Salado Creek Protection
3030 Committee, and many others; and
3131 WHEREAS, Mr. Schulle has a history of recognizing the need
3232 for and leading the way in reforms to secure and protect a healthy
3333 business climate in Texas, and he may indeed reflect with pride on
3434 his many notable accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3636 Legislature hereby honor Gerhardt Schulle, Jr., on his legislative
3737 and business achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for
3838 the future; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4040 prepared for Mr. Schulle as an expression of high regard by the
4141 Texas House of Representatives.
