| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable C. H. Mills, Jr., has ably served the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | people of Aransas County as county judge since 2007, and his |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | knowledge of local issues and dedication to the public good have |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | earned him widespread respect and appreciation; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Aransas County, Judge Mills served his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | country with distinction in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Air |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Force; he and his wife, Penny, settled in Rockport in 1971 and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | joined the family business, the Duck Inn Restaurant, a successful |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | venture they owned and operated for 36 years; blessed with three |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | children, Lieutenant Colonel Jason Mills and his wife, Julianne, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Dr. Jeremy Mills and his wife, Jennifer, and Melanie Mills, "Burt" |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Mills also enjoys the love and affection of two grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Judge Mills first entered politics in 1978, when he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was elected to the Rockport City Council; he went on to serve four |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | terms as mayor, and his outstanding leadership contributed to a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | number of worthwhile improvements, including the development of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Rockport Beach Park; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan currently serves as a member of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Governor's Commission on Disaster Recovery and Preparedness and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | as treasurer of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments; in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | addition, he is a member of the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Commerce, a lifetime member of the Stewart/Wendell VFW Post, and a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | valued congregant of the First Presbyterian Church; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Burt Mills has made many significant contributions |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to the betterment of life in Aransas County, and he may take |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | justifiable pride in his exemplary record of achievement; now, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby honor County Judge C. H. "Burt" Mills, Jr., for |

| 34 | 34 | | his committed public service to Aransas County and extend to him |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; |
