55 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State of
66 Texas, 81st Legislature, Regular Session, 2009, That House Rule 13,
77 Section 9(a), be suspended in part as provided by House Rule 13,
88 Section 9(f), to enable the conference committee appointed to
99 resolve the differences on House Bill 1722 (proceedings that may be
1010 referred to and the powers of a criminal law magistrate in Bexar
1111 County) to consider and take action on the following matter:
1212 House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(1), is suspended to permit the
1313 committee to change text not in disagreement in SECTION 1 of the
1414 bill, in Section 54.906(a)(8), Government Code, to read as follows:
1515 (8) any other matter the judge considers necessary and
1616 proper, including a negotiated plea of guilty before the court.
1717 Explanation: This change is necessary to maintain the
1818 authority of a district judge in Bexar County to refer proceedings
1919 in criminal cases involving negotiated pleas of guilty to a
2020 criminal law magistrate.
