| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is holding |

| 6 | 6 | | its second annual Health Summit and Business Expo on September 30, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The HHCC is the leading advocate in the region for |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the economic and civic interests of the Hispanic business |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | community; since its founding 30 years ago, this organization has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | gone from being one of the smallest chambers of commerce in Texas to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | one of the largest; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Reflecting the dramatic growth of the city's |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Hispanic population, which has doubled since 1990, the chamber's |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | membership has also increased spectacularly, rising from 500 to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2,800 members over the past two years; in keeping with its |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | burgeoning strength, the organization has recently relocated to a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | new building in downtown Houston; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The chamber's annual Health Summit and Business Expo |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | enables individual members and companies to come together in a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | dynamic setting to exchange information and insights, to showcase |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | their products and services, and to forge new relationships and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | renew old ones; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Contributing to the growth of Houston even during |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | difficult times, the HHCC's annual Health Summit and Business Expo |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is a highlight of the Bayou City's business calendar and truly |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the second annual Health Summit and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Business Expo of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and |

| 31 | 31 | | extend to the chamber and the expo's sponsors and attendees sincere |
