5	5	WHEREAS, A member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International for 50
6	6	years, Audrey Eoff of Weslaco is being honored for her myriad
7	7	contributions to this outstanding organization at its
8	8	International Council Convention in San Antonio on July 16, 2009;
9	9	and
10	10	WHEREAS, Founded in 1929, ESA is an international leadership
11	11	and service organization with some 12,000 members in more than
12	12	1,000 chapters; Mrs. Eoff belongs to Lambda Iota Chapter No. 2665
13	13	and has achieved her 5th Degree of Pallas Athene; currently serving
14	14	for the fourth time as ESA District III president, she also recently
15	15	served as Texas awards chair for ESA; she herself has won numerous
16	16	awards through the years, including the top prize in international
17	17	ESA competition as editor of the 2007-2008 state news magazine, The
18	18	TESAN, and she was selected as Outstanding ESA Member for the State
19	19	of Texas in 2005-2006; moreover, she was recognized at the
20	20	organization's state convention in May 2009 with a 50-year service
21	21	pin; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Among the many organizations that benefit from the
23	23	efforts of ESA members are St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
24	24	and the American Cancer Society; since 1972, Mrs. Eoff has worked
25	25	diligently in behalf of ESA's successful national fund-raising
26	26	program for St. Jude, and she was invited to sing several times for
27	27	the hospital's founder, entertainer Danny Thomas, at the IC
28	28	Convention; at this year's event, she will be recognized by ALSAC,
29	29	the hospital's fund-raising organization; and
30	30	WHEREAS, This civic-minded Texan has served on the Mid Valley
31	31	Unit Board of the American Cancer Society for more than two decades
32	32	and is currently serving as president; a cancer survivor, she has
33	33	given generously of her time and talents to the Mid Valley Relay for
34	34	Life for the last nine years and to projects supporting research and
35	35	aiding individuals with cancer; and
36	36	WHEREAS, Mrs. Eoff retired from the teaching profession after
37	37	25 years, and she continues to lead education workshops and work as
38	38	a consultant; she has been a valued member of St. Pius X Catholic
39	39	Church for more than five decades and has served as chair of the
40	40	Disciples in Mission Program and on a number of commissions; a
41	41	devoted wife and mother, she is supported in all her endeavors by
42	42	the love of her husband, Therman Eoff, and their 6 children and 13
43	43	grandchildren; and
44	44	WHEREAS, Through a half-century of dedicated service to
45	45	Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Audrey Eoff has set an inspiring example of
46	46	leadership and commitment, and her many accomplishments indeed
47	47	merit special recognition; now, therefore, be it
48	48	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
49	49	Legislature hereby congratulate Audrey Eoff on her 50th anniversary
50	50	with Epsilon Sigma Alpha International and commend her for her many
51	51	noteworthy achievements; and, be it further
52	52	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
53	53	prepared for Mrs. Eoff as an expression of high regard by the Texas
54	54	House of Representatives.
