44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The untimely death of Rayzette Louisa Reed Howard in
66 April 2009, at the age of 41, has brought a tremendous loss to her
77 family and many friends; and
88 WHEREAS, The only child of Dr. Raymond Reed and Norma Reed,
99 the former Rayzette Reed was born in Dallas on October 25, 1967; she
1010 graduated from Skyline High School and went on to earn a bachelor's
1111 degree in communications from Texas Woman's University and a
1212 master's degree in education from Amberton University, later
1313 pursuing doctoral studies at Nova Southeastern University; and
1414 WHEREAS, She was joined in marriage to the Reverend Donavan
1515 C. Howard, and they enjoyed a rewarding life together that was
1616 further enriched by their beloved children, Kevraye', Cadence,
1717 Camryn, and Reed, as well as by their strong devotion to their
1818 faith; Mrs. Howard was a talented gospel singer who shared her
1919 musical gift with several groups of young people, and her beautiful
2020 voice also inspired many when she sang as a member of the choir at
2121 Saintsville Sanctuary Church of God in Christ; and
2222 WHEREAS, Mrs. Howard was an active and valued member of her
2323 community; an accomplished educator, she taught reading at
2424 Northwest Harlee Elementary School, and she later served Dallas ISD
2525 as an area advisory reading teacher and instructional reading
2626 coach, working with the students of Birdie Alexander Elementary
2727 School; in addition, she shared her time with the Alpha Xi Omega
2828 Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and had worked in the past for
2929 State Representative Helen Giddings as her district office
3030 director; and
3131 WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too
3232 soon, Rayzette Howard will long be remembered with great tenderness
3333 and affection by all those who were privileged to share in her life;
3434 now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3636 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rayzette Louisa
3737 Reed Howard and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
3838 family: to her husband, the Reverend Donavan C. Howard; to her
3939 children, Kevraye', Cadence, Camryn, and Reed; to her parents,
4040 Dr. Raymond Reed and Norma Burleson Reed; and to her other loved
4141 ones, including Daryn and Tyler Howard, Carolyn Howard, Petra and
4242 James Spencer, Dr. Louis H. Reed, Jr., and Dr. Claudia Reed;
4343 Dr. Donald R. Reed and Dana Reed, and S. A. Jordan Lacy; and, be it
4444 further
4545 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4646 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4747 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rayzette
4848 Louisa Reed Howard.
