5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The untimely death of Rayzette Louisa Reed Howard in |

6 | 6 | | April 2009, at the age of 41, has brought a tremendous loss to her |
---|
7 | 7 | | family and many friends; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The only child of Dr. Raymond Reed and Norma Reed, |
---|
9 | 9 | | the former Rayzette Reed was born in Dallas on October 25, 1967; she |
---|
10 | 10 | | graduated from Skyline High School and went on to earn a bachelor's |
---|
11 | 11 | | degree in communications from Texas Woman's University and a |
---|
12 | 12 | | master's degree in education from Amberton University, later |
---|
13 | 13 | | pursuing doctoral studies at Nova Southeastern University; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She was joined in marriage to the Reverend Donavan |
---|
15 | 15 | | C. Howard, and they enjoyed a rewarding life together that was |
---|
16 | 16 | | further enriched by their beloved children, Kevraye', Cadence, |
---|
17 | 17 | | Camryn, and Reed, as well as by their strong devotion to their |
---|
18 | 18 | | faith; Mrs. Howard was a talented gospel singer who shared her |
---|
19 | 19 | | musical gift with several groups of young people, and her beautiful |
---|
20 | 20 | | voice also inspired many when she sang as a member of the choir at |
---|
21 | 21 | | Saintsville Sanctuary Church of God in Christ; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Howard was an active and valued member of her |
---|
23 | 23 | | community; an accomplished educator, she taught reading at |
---|
24 | 24 | | Northwest Harlee Elementary School, and she later served Dallas ISD |
---|
25 | 25 | | as an area advisory reading teacher and instructional reading |
---|
26 | 26 | | coach, working with the students of Birdie Alexander Elementary |
---|
27 | 27 | | School; in addition, she shared her time with the Alpha Xi Omega |
---|
28 | 28 | | Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and had worked in the past for |
---|
29 | 29 | | State Representative Helen Giddings as her district office |
---|
30 | 30 | | director; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too |
---|
32 | 32 | | soon, Rayzette Howard will long be remembered with great tenderness |
---|
33 | 33 | | and affection by all those who were privileged to share in her life; |
---|
34 | 34 | | now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

36 | 36 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rayzette Louisa |

37 | 37 | | Reed Howard and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her |

38 | 38 | | family: to her husband, the Reverend Donavan C. Howard; to her |

39 | 39 | | children, Kevraye', Cadence, Camryn, and Reed; to her parents, |

40 | 40 | | Dr. Raymond Reed and Norma Burleson Reed; and to her other loved |

41 | 41 | | ones, including Daryn and Tyler Howard, Carolyn Howard, Petra and |
