H.R. No. 2962
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The successful operation of the Texas House of
Representatives during the 81st legislative session has been
greatly aided by the dedicated work of House Parliamentarian Denise
Davis; and
WHEREAS, Appointed to the position in 2004, Ms. Davis has
ably handled her duties of guiding the speaker and members through
the daily activities of the legislative session and advising them
about legal and parliamentary options on a wide variety of matters;
she is assisted in carrying out the functions of her office by
assistant parliamentarians Shannon Wiggins and David Hanna as well
as assistant to the parliamentarian Jan Meinscher; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Davis, a graduate of The University of Texas
School of Law, has previously served as director of and counsel to
the Texas Judicial Council, as general counsel for the Lieutenant
Governor's Office, as house deputy parliamentarian, and as an
attorney with the Texas Legislative Council; and
WHEREAS, The conscientious efforts of this esteemed
professional have ably supported the members of this chamber
throughout this regular session, and her service is truly
appreciated; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commend House Parliamentarian Denise Davis and
her staff for their exemplary work and extend to them best wishes
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Davis and her staff as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
