| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The successful operation of the Texas House of |

| 6 | 6 | | Representatives during the 81st legislative session has been |

| 7 | 7 | | greatly aided by the dedicated work of House Parliamentarian Denise |

| 8 | 8 | | Davis; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Appointed to the position in 2004, Ms. Davis has |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | ably handled her duties of guiding the speaker and members through |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the daily activities of the legislative session and advising them |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | about legal and parliamentary options on a wide variety of matters; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she is assisted in carrying out the functions of her office by |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | assistant parliamentarians Shannon Wiggins and David Hanna as well |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | as assistant to the parliamentarian Jan Meinscher; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Davis, a graduate of The University of Texas |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | School of Law, has previously served as director of and counsel to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Texas Judicial Council, as general counsel for the Lieutenant |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Governor's Office, as house deputy parliamentarian, and as an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | attorney with the Texas Legislative Council; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The conscientious efforts of this esteemed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professional have ably supported the members of this chamber |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | throughout this regular session, and her service is truly |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | appreciated; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby commend House Parliamentarian Denise Davis and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | her staff for their exemplary work and extend to them best wishes |

| 28 | 28 | | for the future; and, be it further |
