44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The successful operation of the Texas House of
66 Representatives during the 81st legislative session has been
77 greatly aided by the dedicated work of House Parliamentarian Denise
88 Davis; and
99 WHEREAS, Appointed to the position in 2004, Ms. Davis has
1010 ably handled her duties of guiding the speaker and members through
1111 the daily activities of the legislative session and advising them
1212 about legal and parliamentary options on a wide variety of matters;
1313 she is assisted in carrying out the functions of her office by
1414 assistant parliamentarians Shannon Wiggins and David Hanna as well
1515 as assistant to the parliamentarian Jan Meinscher; and
1616 WHEREAS, Ms. Davis, a graduate of The University of Texas
1717 School of Law, has previously served as director of and counsel to
1818 the Texas Judicial Council, as general counsel for the Lieutenant
1919 Governor's Office, as house deputy parliamentarian, and as an
2020 attorney with the Texas Legislative Council; and
2121 WHEREAS, The conscientious efforts of this esteemed
2222 professional have ably supported the members of this chamber
2323 throughout this regular session, and her service is truly
2424 appreciated; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby commend House Parliamentarian Denise Davis and
2727 her staff for their exemplary work and extend to them best wishes
2828 for the future; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Davis and her staff as an expression of high regard
3131 by the Texas House of Representatives.
