| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Tuloso-Midway High School Band |

| 6 | 6 | | from Corpus Christi can take justifiable pride in their significant |

| 7 | 7 | | achievements during the 2008-2009 school year; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Under the skillful leadership of head band director |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Raymond Sanchez, the young musicians in the "Mighty Warrior Band" |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | have won numerous awards; the band program includes 12 All-Region |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Band members, 9 All-Region Jazz Band members, 4 All-Area Band |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | members, and 3 All-State Band members; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Band members scored 53 1st division awards in the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | regional University Interscholastic League solo and ensemble |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | competition, and it had 38 state qualifiers for solo and ensemble |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | categories; the band won 1st division in both the concert and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | sight-reading contests, and the winter drum-line placed fifth in |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Texas Educational Colorguard Association statewide |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | competition; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Participation in the band program develops music |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | appreciation, fosters discipline and commitment, and helps |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | students discover what they can accomplish with hard work; through |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their dedication and talent, members of the Mighty Warrior Band |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | have earned the respect and admiration of their fellow students and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of the school's faculty and it is indeed fitting to recognize their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize the Tuloso-Midway High School Band and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to its members sincere best wishes for continued success; |
