R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps of
Jefferson High School in El Paso has received the Superintendent's
Performances Trophy; and
WHEREAS, This coveted prize was awarded at the annual JROTC
review held by the El Paso Independent School District at Burges
High School on May 8, 2009; and
WHEREAS, JROTC units throughout the district accumulate
points for their performance at drill meets, orienteering meets,
rifle matches, drill competitions, and other activities; the unit
with the highest overall score wins the trophy; and
WHEREAS, The Jefferson High School JROTC has carried off this
honor for 12 of the past 13 years, earning the respect of the
school's teachers, administrators, and students; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Major Guillermo Renteria and
Sergeant First Class Juan Arispe, the Jefferson High cadets are
building character and laying the foundation for a bright future,
and they may indeed take great pride in receiving this prestigious
award yet again; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Jefferson High School JROTC on
winning the Superintendent's Performances Trophy and extend to the
unit's cadets sincere best wishes for continued success in all
their endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Jefferson High School cadets as an expression of
esteem by the Texas House of Representatives.
