| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps of |

| 6 | 6 | | Jefferson High School in El Paso has received the Superintendent's |

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This coveted prize was awarded at the annual JROTC |

| 9 | 9 | | review held by the El Paso Independent School District at Burges |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | High School on May 8, 2009; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, JROTC units throughout the district accumulate |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | points for their performance at drill meets, orienteering meets, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | rifle matches, drill competitions, and other activities; the unit |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | with the highest overall score wins the trophy; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Jefferson High School JROTC has carried off this |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | honor for 12 of the past 13 years, earning the respect of the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | school's teachers, administrators, and students; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Major Guillermo Renteria and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sergeant First Class Juan Arispe, the Jefferson High cadets are |

| 20 | 20 | | building character and laying the foundation for a bright future, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and they may indeed take great pride in receiving this prestigious |

| 22 | 22 | | award yet again; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Jefferson High School JROTC on |
