| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Azuri Ruiz has played an important role in the |

| 6 | 6 | | success of the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region, which is celebrating |

| 7 | 7 | | its 100th anniversary in 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Ruiz was introduced to the YWCA when her |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | employer, the Center for Civic Engagement at The University of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Texas at El Paso, which she now directs, collaborated with the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | organization to assess the needs of local women; she went on to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | participate in the YWCA Community Building Momentum Leadership |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Institute and later served on the leadership committee; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2006, this dynamic young woman became the only |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | board member under the age of 30, and she was subsequently invited |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to join the YWCA Southwest/Delta Regional Council as a delegate; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | most recently, she was elected as a coordinating board member for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the national YWCA; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dedicated volunteers are vital to the betterment of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | communities across the Lone Star State, and Azuri Ruiz has set an |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | outstanding example of civic involvement through her work with the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | YWCA; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby commend Azuri Ruiz for her admirable record of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | service with the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region and extend to her |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
