H.R. No. 3014 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Cardone has performed outstanding volunteer work in her community through the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region; and WHEREAS, Now a respected federal judge, Kathy Cardone first became involved with the local YWCA almost three decades ago; after moving to El Paso with her husband in 1980, she began volunteering at the YWCA to contribute to the community and to meet people in her newly adopted hometown; her work at the Women's Resource Center in those early years helped lay the foundation for the exceptional service she has provided to the organization in the years since; and WHEREAS, Judge Cardone became a member of the YWCA board of directors in 1997 and linked the board's efforts with the community-oriented endeavors of her work in the legal profession to implement such programs as the El Paso County Domestic Relations Office and Children Cope with Divorce; she left the board of directors in 2004, but she continues to provide valuable support to the YWCA and its many beneficial community programs; and WHEREAS, Through her enduring work with the YWCA, Kathy Cardone has devoted her time and expertise to the goal of empowering women and to the enhancement of the quality of life in her community, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for these admirable efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Judge Kathleen Cardone for the exemplary volunteer service she has rendered to the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Judge Cardone as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
